The Romans Road: The gospel in one letter
Seven stops through Romans, in Paul's own order: everyone has sinned, sin pays death, Christ died for sinners, and everyone who calls on the Lord is saved and freed from condemnation.
7 stops through Romans
Romans 3:10 · Begin with the verdict on us all
There is no one righteous, not even one.
Paul gathers the Scriptures' witness: no one is righteous before God, not the religious and not the irreligious.
Romans 3:23 · No one is excepted
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Every person has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, the glory we were made to reflect.
Romans 5:8 · Cross the bridge: Christ died for us
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God shows His love in this: Christ died for us not after we improved, but while we were still sinners and enemies.
The love that saves is God's, not ours.
Romans 6:23 · Wages earned, or a gift received
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sin pays what it earns: death. Eternal life cannot be earned; it is God's free gift in Christ.
Romans 8:1 · No condemnation in Christ
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Those who are in Christ will never be condemned. Their sentence fell on Him, and the Spirit gives them a new life.
Romans 10:9 · Turn: confess Him and believe
if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead
Salvation comes by trusting in the heart that God raised Jesus, and confessing Him as Lord.
Romans 10:13 · Arrive: everyone who calls is saved
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
The promise has no exceptions: anyone, from any nation, who calls on the Lord Jesus will be saved.
The offer is real and it is for you.
Peace with God
Justified through faith, the believer has peace with God through Jesus Christ, and no condemnation remains.
since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
Romans 5:1
What now?
